  Promotional Activities

Most of the major promotional activities are conducted through the Peanut Advisory Board. However, while national projects are coordinated through the agency, participation and support is provided from the staffs of the three sponsoring organizations. Much of the information developed for national projects are utilized on a state or local level. Like the national efforts, state projects are geared toward consumers and professionals that influence consumers.

Of particular note is APPA's affiliation with the Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes. A partnership that started in Alabama four years ago has grown into a $2 million, 2-year national partnership between the National Peanut Board and the National March of Dimes. From Alabama's perspective, the MoD affiliation has allowed peanuts to be promoted in a positive manner to groups unavailable before such as state and child health care, the medical profession and disease prevention. Many times the MoD's serves as the spokesman on behalf of peanuts.
