  Educational Activities

Educational activities are designed to keep growers, congressional leaders and the general public informed on relevant developments and issues involving peanuts. These projects differ from promotional activities in that they address immediate and on-going issues of interest.

  • Southeastern Peanut Farmer magazine: Published in conjunction with Georgia and Florida nine times annually. Alabama had its own Alabama Peanut News until recently. APN joined the magazine in order to have a united publication under the SPFF. The association is considering publishing a monthly newsletter similar to The Cultivator for Alabama growers to increase information flow at least through the farm bill.

  • APPA Annual Meeting: The annual meeting serves as a platform to update growers on the association's activities. The program attempts to address current issues as well as providing updates. The business meetings of the voting delegate as well as annual meeting of PeanutPAC of Alabama are held at this time.

  • Regional/County Peanut Meetings: The Extension Service holds peanut production meetings for growers annually. APPA helped coordinate these meeting to provide growers updates.

  • Media Releases: Periodic news releases are disseminated to local media on relevant items concerning peanuts and the association

  • "Top of the Morning" show: APPA has a contract with the host of the early morning show to cover and promote items of interest to the association.
