Good Year Blimp Visits Dothan - Pilots Requests Alabama Peanuts
The famous Good Year Blimp, Spirit of Innovation, recently made an unexpected stop in Dothan, Ala. Due to weather conditions, the blimp landed at the Dothan Airport for an overnight stay enroute to Talladega, Ala., for the weekend races. Chief Pilot Larry Chambers made his first trip to Dothan in 1975 when the Good Year Blimp, May Flower, was a special feature during the National Peanut Festival. He still remembers the great tasting Alabama peanuts and Southern hospitality he received then. In fact, he requested some Alabama peanuts and the Alabama Peanut Produces Association put together a special gift basket and donated cans of Alabama peanuts to the nearly 20 crew members.
