Congressman Bright to Host Farmer's Forum with Agriculture Subcommittee Chair
HEADLAND – Congressman Bobby Bright and Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell will host a farmer’s forum this Saturday at the Wiregrass Experiment Station in Headland. Congressman Boswell is the Chairman of the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee on the House Agriculture Committee. This subcommittee has jurisdiction over programs related to cotton, cottonseed, wheat, feed grains, soybeans, oilseeds, rice, dry beans, peas, lentils, the Commodity Credit Corporation, and risk management - including crop insurance and commodity exchanges. Hearings on the next Farm Bill will soon begin, and the forum will give farmers and anyone with an interest in agriculture an opportunity to share their thoughts on the 2008 Farm Bill, as well as other agriculture-related issues.
