Peanut Knowledge and Competency Award
In conjunction with the annual Miss National Peanut Festival pageant, the Alabama Peanut Producers Association presents a $500 scholarship to the contestant who receives the highest score on a peanut knowledge and competency test. The test, which includes true or false, multiple choice, fill in the blank and essay questions, are judged by members of the National Peanut Research Laboratory. Contestants in the competition are all from the southeast peanut producing areas in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
This year’s scholarship recipient is Emily Anne Latta, the reigning Miss Dothan. was presented the peanut scholarship award by Randy Griggs, executive director of the Alabama Peanut Producers Association.
Emily Anne is a junior at the University of Alabama in Birmingham where she is a junior obtaining a biology degree on pre-med or pre-dental track.
