It’s almost here. The annual Alabama-Florida Peanut Trade Show will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012. The event will take place at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds located on Hwy 231 South in Dothan, Ala. Peanut growers that attend will not only be able to fine tune their farming operations, but they may win a season's use of a new peanut combine among other prizes. Sponsored by the Alabama Peanut Producers Association and the Florida Peanut Producers Association, the one-day event offers farmers a full day to view the products and services of more than 70 exhibitors and a day of education. The show opens at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until 12 noon. During the catered lunch, Bob Redding of The Redding Firm in Washington, DC, will be discussing something on everyone’s mind - the 2012 Farm Bill. The show’s Grand Door Prize is being given by Kelley Manufacturing Company. The top prize will be one season’s use of a new four or six row KMC Peanut Combine on his/her farm for the 2012 peanut season. In addition, KMC will reduce the list price of the combine by $10,000 for purchase by the winner through an authorized KMC dealer. The winner must be certified as a peanut grower with an FSA farm number. Another prize being offered is from Amadas Industries. This prize will be $10,000 off on a self-propelled peanut combine or $5,000 off a pull-type peanut combine or $1,000 off any other piece of equipment sold by Amadas. Also throughout the trade show, growers will be given chances to win more than $4,000 in cash and prizes. A grower seminar will be held during the afternoon. The seminar is being coordinated by the Alabama and Florida Peanut Producers Associations. There will also be a Seed & Production Seminar that is being sponsored by: Southern Peanut Farmers Federation, The Peanut Foundation, American Peanut Shellers Association, Alabama and Florida Peanut Producers Associations. All peanut growers are invited to attend the day’s events. For more information on the show contact Teresa Wilson at APPA (334)792-6482 or email:
