Peanut Producer Organizations
Producer organizations vary in number and structure from state to state. All major peanut producing state have a state authorized "check-off" organization. These eight Associations, Boards or Commissions vary in structure but are similar in their objectives of research, education and promotion. Depending on the individual state, these organizations have varying degrees of latitude in their promotional and educational programs.
Other producer organizations have been organized in some states to pursue specific interest or groups of producers. Generally, these organizations are supportive of the objectives of the "check-off" programs but the participating producers have more selective or specific agendas.
In addition to exclusively peanut related organizations, general agriculture organization such as state Farm Bureaus and the Alabama Farmers Federation are involved in promoting the interest of peanut producers.
