The Peanut Advisory Board The Peanut Advisory Board is the in-house PR agency for the southeast growers. The one area that Alabama coordinates with the other southeastern states that does not operate under the SPFF is regional and national promotion. The three states created the Peanut Advisory Board in 1980 to coordinate national promotional activities. PAB was originally established in conjunction with a national public relations agency in New York City. In 1988, the three states left the New York agency and brought PAB in-house and reestablished it in Atlanta, where it is today. Until the recent establishment of the national grower check-off program, PAB was the major organization with public relation activities that were national in scope. Like the Federation, PAB is owned and funded by the Alabama Peanut Producers Association, the Florida Peanut Producers Association and the Georgia Peanut Commission. The Peanut Advisory Board has established itself as a creditable voice for the industry as well as producers. In addition to its own projects, the PAB has done work for other organizations and companies. Some of these include Menquey's Peanuts, the American Peanut Council, the National Peanut Growers Group and the National Peanut Board. The PAB has a board of 10 grower members consisting of 5 representatives from Georgia, 3 from Alabama and 2 from Florida. This board approves budget and policy issues. Operations are the responsibility of the Management Board that consists of the PAB executive director and the executive director of the three grower organizations. Funding for PAB activities is pro rata base on acreage. Alabama Representation:
