The Alabama Peanut Producers Association along with 134 agriculture organizations and businesses requested immediate action to address the dire situations impacting farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses and rural communities across the nation. The letter, mailed on April 19, was sent to President Trump, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. The letter addressed the difficult year farmers have faced in 2018 and 2019 due to challenging market prices and destructive weather conditions.
